Q&A by the Coffee Machine: Rasmus Stilling

At Kimbrer Computer, we like to showcase our work and the best we have to offer. But the people are what really defines our company. We are a group of experienced, enthusiastic and high-performing individuals working within different areas such as sales, marketing, technical support, logistics, warehousing and accounting. In this Q&A series, we aim to highlight our team members, their daily work, and what it is like be part at Kimbrer Computer. In the first installment, we catch up with Rasmus Stilling, our new Dell EMC Account Manager.

What is your professional background?

I have always been working in the fashion retail industry. I started out as a Sales Apprentice, then I became Sales Assistant and from there on I grew into the leadership role. Before joining Kimbrer Computer, I was Store Manager at Dansk Outlet, an online fashion retailer with 26 physical stores in Denmark. For four years, I was responsible for the day-to-day operations, including the acquisition of goods, marketing activities and store space planning.

You had your first working day on the 1st of August. How did you experience the first two and a half months?

It has been an interesting and rewarding time with new faces, exciting challenges – and a lot of new things to learn. Starting a new job is always a little nerve-wracking and overwhelming, but everyone has been so open-minded and helpful, and I have already learned so much and been given some responsibilities, which is great!

What inspired you to join Kimbrer Computer?

I joined Kimbrer Computer because I was looking to develop my skills and challenge myself with a new product in a new industry. I have always been interested in technology, but I am not that familiar with enterprise hardware. For me, it just comes from fixing computers and laptops as a hobby for friends and family. I had heard a lot of good things about Kimbrer Computer and was drawn to their values which are represented in everything the company does. I also wanted to experience working for a company with a greater purpose to address environmental issues.

What is your role at Kimbrer Computer?

My role will be Account Manager, which means that I will be managing a portfolio of accounts, handling customers queries and supporting the Dell EMC team. Apart from delivering a rewarding customer service on a day-to-day basis with my new teammates, I will primarily work with the Dell brand, which includes configurations, servers, switches and components.

What got you interested in sales in the first place?

One of the things I love most about working in sales is helping others – it gives me a tremendous amount of personal satisfaction. There is really no such thing as getting back home from work with a feeling that I have made a difference for someone through my work. Call me a hopeless romantic, but for me, the value of helping others, solving problems and bringing a smile on people's faces is the main reason to sell anything. If I can have a positive impact on a customer's day, I am happy.

What is the key to a successful customer relationship?

I think there are three important things to consider when building a strong customer relationship: Trust, trust and trust. If your customers do not trust you, then everything else is irrelevant. To build that trust and maintain relationships, I would say that you need to align with the way your customers are thinking, meet them at eye level and make them feel comfortable by being as human and available as possible.
